Classical Sheffield Weekend
“Classical Sheffield aims to bring together all of the classical music being made here in Sheffield and the surrounding area, as well as the people making it happen, and share it with everyone. Sheffield and its locality are home to a wealth of talented orchestras, a variety of choirs, aspiring soloists, conductors, composers and everything in between, and only here can you find it all in one place.”
Waldershelf Singers invite you to a concert featuring a programme of traditional sea shanties – the songs sung by sailors to help them co-ordinate their movements and keep time while performing tasks on ships, and a way of relieving the monotony of these repetitive tasks.
A Drop of Nelson’s Blood – refers to the rum that Nelson’s body was said to be preserved in after his death after the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, so it could be transported back to Britain – this is not verified!
Let us transport you from land-locked Sheffield to a different life – a life as a member of a ship’s crew and a sea-faring community.
22nd March at 7:00 pm – 7:45 pm
